Data set

Short description

This is a small excerpt of a data set we collected when we had the suspicion that out next up-node to the internet waa not performing as it should. The data collected are results from the UNIX spray proram, used with various packet sizes. Each record is the result returned from spray, averaged over 100 packets. The transfer rate, plotted against the package size, had a very peculiar pattern. transfer rate by packet size

The source was more obvious when we checked the loss rate by package size.

Using these data, you can estimate the package size where the communication breaks down. With this information, the problem was finanlly pinned down to a misconfigured router in our computing center.
